4 October, 2016 / Read time: 2 minutes

ALMA will participate in the 2016 Chilean Science and Technology Festival that kicks off this Thursday October 6 at the Mirador Interactive Museum in Santiago and will be open until Saturday, October 8, from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm.

50 stands from diverse institutions associated with science, technology and education in Chile will be on display on the museum terrace with attractive exhibits, experiments, talks and other surprises. Last year, this massive festival attracted over 33 thousand participants, and 2016 promises to fascinate with attractive outdoor panoramas.

“The purpose is for everyone to fall in love with science and specifically with astronomy,” says Valeria Foncea, ALMA communications officer.

Virtual reality helmets to delve into the Universe in search of cosmic particles, a Seismic Simulator to replicate earthquakes and a “Children's Corner,” with activities especially designed for kids, are just a few of the activities that students and the community at large can discover at the 10th Science and Technology Festival.

The Millennium Institute of Astrophysics, MAS, will present the astronomy video game, “Star Eater,” where visitors can take an interesting voyage through the Solar System.
