Maneuvering and relocating antennas is a complex operation that requires the precision of a transporter designed and manufactured specifically for this operation. The transporter’s mission is to transport antennas and it weighs 100 tons, has 28 wheels and four front, rear, 360 degree and crank steering modes, its transport capacity is 130 tons, and its loaded average speed is 12 km/h and 20 km/h when unloaded on a horizontal plane. The distance from OSF to AOS is around 26 km uphill and average transport time is 5 hours, considering the final antenna relocation to the base assigned by ALMA.
